Lino Ladies -
A Print Artist Collective
The Lansing Area Printmakers Collective (Lino Ladies for short) is a group of 8 artists who use the linocut as a starting point for our artwork.
Challenge # 1 - Design a virus
Challenge # 1 was to design your own virus. Some used the challenge as a chance to imagine a pleasanter world, others to show the pain of the current one. Requirements were to use square block(s), 5 x 5 ", and black and white, with one color optional. Of course, the restrictions themselves were optional, as you can see.
Humans are the worst thing to happen to this poor planet. It was fun to be able to express that. The many reaching hands symbolize greed.
The Chihuly virus. The first symptom is slight dizziness and seeing swirling colors.
This virus causes a mild, very localized fever, giving a person warm feet all winter.
This virus absorbs everything that makes human beings horrible and morphs those despicable human qualities into better human selves.
The dreaded acne virus.
